Michelle Coffman, LMT
Michelle was born and raised in the suburbs of Charleston, WV.
In 1997 Michelle graduated from the Mountain State School of Massage in Charleston, WV, and became a NCBTMB nationally certified, licensed Massage Therapist. Since that time, Michelle has worked as a Massage Therapist in various medical, wellness, and spa settings and currently maintains a small private practice in South Charleston, WV. Michelle has a thirst for knowledge and has completed over 600 hours of advanced training and continuing education.
Michelle has been able to continue her career as a Massage Therapist for over 29 years by utilizing many hand & body-saving techniques and injury prevention strategies that she incorporates into all of her CE classes. Michelle provides an integrative approach to massage therapy, incorporating a variety of therapeutic hands-on techniques into her massage therapy practice. Michelle also incorporates coaching & mentoring into her practice as a Certified Self Care Coach.
January 2009–December 2012 Michelle joined the faculty at the Mountain State School of Massage, where she taught Deep Tissue Massage, Neuromuscular Therapy, Integrative Massage, Aromatherapy, Nutrition, Ethics & supervised the Student Clinic. This is where she discovered her passion for teaching, mentoring, and coaching.
In 2010, Michelle took all the courses taught by veteran CE instructor Lolita Knight. Lolita Knight quickly selected Michelle to be one of her 4 certified instructors to carry on her courses when she retired. Michelle completed over 84 classroom hours with Lolita, completed Lolita’s NCBTMB-approved continuing education instructor training & acquired over 60 hours as Lolita’s teaching assistant. Since that time, Michelle has been offering NCBTMB-approved continuing education courses around the USA. Michelle incorporates injury prevention and hand and body saving techniques into all of her classes to help Massage Therapists have long, healthy, prosperous careers.
Michelle also enjoys her volunteer work as the President & Government Relations chair of the WV Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association. Volunteering with the AMTA has united her passions for connecting with fellow Massage Therapists while advocating for the advancement of the Massage Therapy profession.
When Michelle is not working or volunteering, she enjoys paddle boarding, dancing, hiking, yoga, live music, cuddling with animals, and eating tacos. Michelle currently resides in South Charleston, WV, with her husband and their 3 rescue cats.
